Teaching values - We are different

This is the first post with examples of tasks which teach different kinds of values, in this case I believe they are diversity, tolerance, belonging, making choices, acceptance, self-awareness, creativity, respect.
These exercises are perfect for the new school year or for a new language group.
 
Groups I belong to
  1. What is a group? What kinds of groups do you know?
  2. Ss think about 5 groups that they belong to.
  3. The teacher gives examples of his/her groups.
  4. Ask students to underline the most important one.
  5. Teacher reads out random groups, students have to stand up for a few seconds if they hear their group.
        examples of groups (you should vary the names of the groups to suit your students’             age and experience): people who wear glasses, teenagers, people who like music,                 people who live in the city, people who live in the country, people who go to church,               people who have never been abroad, people who have siblings
    6.  In pairs students talk about their choices and what reasons they had for underlining          one of the groups.
    7.  Reflection stage  

This is US board
  1. Ss write 3 nouns that represent them. They mingle and discuss.
  2. Ss stick the pieces of paper with their nouns to the board. When it is ready, they approach it again and see how many people have similar ideas to theirs.
  3. T takes one word and reads it, the person who has written it should stand up.
 
ID card
  1. Alternative for younger students - Ss cut out different objects from newspapers which are important for them, they stick them to a piece of paper which will become their ID
  2. Ss walk around the class and talk about the IDs
  3. OR Ss sit in a circle and talk about their ID one by one
         OR Ss draw one ID and have to describe the person it belongs to, only by looking at            the pictures
